Why I Built NexusBiome

By Alain Patry

We live in a strange era. We have thousands of "friends" online, but we no longer know who is actually close to us. How many degrees really separate us from that person we would like to meet? Three? Four? Six?

This is the question that gave birth to NexusBiome, a Quebec project mapping the degrees of separation between people. Not yet another social network — a living map of our human bonds.

An idea born from frustration

Current networks have one model: maximize the number of connections, not the quality of bonds. I wanted to reverse that logic. On NexusBiome, you see exactly how many degrees separate you from every person on the network. A friend is at 1°. A friend of a friend at 2°. And when you search for a path to a target, the shortest-path algorithm shows you the way.

A platform built from scratch

NexusBiome is not a purchased template. It is a complete platform: an interactive network drawn in real time with a physics engine, real-time messaging, groups, a news feed, an integrated advertising system, five visual themes and an installable app (PWA). All built with a simple philosophy: privacy first, simplicity next, zero frills.

A human verification model

Unlike industry giants, NexusBiome verifies pages with an original system: a member creates the page of a person they know, transmits a code by phone, and only by claiming that page with the code does the person take ownership of their profile. Result: nearly zero fake profiles.

And now?

NexusBiome is in invitation-only beta. The platform grows day after day, with new features, new visual themes, and soon new ways to explore the human network. If you want to be part of the founders, contact us.
